In 1997, I joined AIESEC in Mumbai while I was at university. Little did I know that my experience there would help me build a global organization.

I have come to realize that lessons learnt early in life have a significant imprint on our personality. These lessons may come from people in your life: parents, teachers, mentors, friends, and siblings. Or from being exposed to challenging situations and pressure, a more difficult learning path.

For me, my stint at AIESEC proved to be a turning point in my life. …

“Language needs work. Consider getting your paper edited by a native English speaker.”

“The author needs a native English-speaking co-author to thoroughly revise the grammar of this manuscript.”

“This paper is not written in sound English and cannot be accepted in its current form.”

It’s not uncommon for authors submitting their research papers to journals to receive such comments at the peer review stage.

And it’s completely understandable for authors to be confused or angry after receiving these comments despite getting their manuscripts edited by a professional language editing company.

We had founded Cactus Communications on the premise that we’d…

I’ve had migraine attacks for as long as I can remember. But they got progressively worse between 2011 and 2014.

Part of me knew what was triggering the attacks. These three years were the darkest period of my life. My self-esteem was at its lowest and insecurity at its peak. At the end of our conversation, the researcher asked me to edit his research paper. He wanted to submit his paper to an English-language journal and wanted a native English speaker to “fix” the language.

This got me thinking. There may be other non-native English-speaking researchers around the world with a similar need — skilled subject-matter experts who…

My mentor/coach Sameer Kamboj and I had a conversation some time in the beginning of 2019. He asked me why I enjoy driving on vacation abroad but not in Mumbai. I responded with many reasons that may resonate with some of you: it’s more fun and relaxing while driving abroad because roads are emptier, I am on a leisure drive, do not always need to get somewhere by a particular time, there is a better traffic sense, I am in a better mood, there is highway lane discipline and everyone follows a standard set of rules.

He smiled, and asked…
